Class Content: Learn the basics of drawing in this three week class, including how to:
-Make an interesting composition with everyday objects
-Draw the shapes of the objects in the correct perspective
-Draw the objects in perspective
-use tone and value to create form and shadows
-use negative space to bring the positive objects forward
The first class will focus on arranging everyday objects (see supply list) with extra lighting from a flashlight to create an interesting composition.
The second class will focus on drawing the objects correctly with perspective.
The third class will concentrate on form, shadows, and depth.
By the end of the three weeks, you will have a completed still life and will have sharpened your skills of observation.
Supply List: Mechanical pencil with .07 lead, a 2B and 4B drawing pencil. A pad of 9 1/2″ X 11″ pad of drawing paper. You will need a kneaded eraser, pencil sharpener, and a ruler. Bring to class 3-4 books, a plain mug, a plain piece of fabric or scarf 36″ square. Bring an object that you might like to represent the theme of your still life along with a piece of fruit.
Biography: It seems that I have always been drawing. It was my favorite hobby as a kid. I went on to art school to study interior design and fine art. Since I have gotten my work schedule down to three days a week, I now can devote more time to my favorite hobby art.
