Class Content: Make a personal mosaic mandala. A great class to get to know the basics of multi-media mosaics while making an 8” simple Mandala design. Students will have a wide range of materials to choose from — glass, ceramic, stone, etc. We will give a brief description of the history of mandalas, their design principles and provide samples to spark your creative process.

Supply List: We will provide everything. Just bring an apron and your creative spirit! Students are encouraged to bring anything of special significance to be included if they wish. (e.g. A broken piece of jewelry from a loved one, a cracked special piece of china, etc.).

Biography: Susan Watson is a stained glass master craftsman, now retired after 29 years at Dollywood. Her interest in mosaics started back in the late 1980s when she developed a method for stained glass stepping stones. This morphed over the years into multimedia mosaics as she started to combine materials into her mosaics. Susan has studied Mosaics all over the world under various teachers and their methods. “I particularly like adding organic elements into my mosaic designs — stones, shells, ceramics, etc.”, says Susan.
