Class Content: Join me in painting a beautiful Smoky Mountain scene with a field of flowers. Learn how to create the smoky mist in the distance and how to let your brush do the work to easily paint bushes and trees and a field of flowers. I will help you make the painting your own . While I paint thinner on the canvas generally, I will show you several techniques so you can paint with more texture if you prefer that. Its about having fun and making it your own! I provide personal assistance around the room as you all create your own special Smoky Mountain landscape and learn techniques to take home and try on some more paintings. Some painting class experience will help, even if it was just a Painting with a Twist class or something like that.

I will provide a 11×14 canvas for our art piece. I will bring extra brushes as well in case you don’t have a particular size. You will need to bring Acrylic Paints and basic brushes including a half inch Filbert and a 1″ Fan, a script brush and paper towels and a water container to clean brushes. I have several aprons, but just in case we run out, if you have an apron it’s good to have since acrylics will stick permanently to clothing!

The Colors we will be using are: Windsor Yellow (or any bright yellow), Ultramarine blue, Burnt Sienna, Black, White, Bright Orange and Magenta.

TIP: Some acrylic sets at places like Walmart are very thinned down and can be difficult to work with as they do not contain much pigment. I recommend brands like Lukas (mid) and Golden (high) but any sets from Jerry’s Artarama or Dick Blick, Cheap Joes online stores are going to be better quality and you can get great deals on a set so you can keep painting at home. *** If you do not want to buy a set before trying out acrylics, you can borrow mine for a small fee. I will have brushes as well for anyone to borrow.

Biography: Tennessee artist Carol Robin King was born and raised in Argentina where she discovered her love for drawing at the tender age of 3. At 13, Carol advanced from drawing to painting with oils and acrylics.  While in Argentina,  she attended 3 years of professional Art School.  She loves continuing to learn and perfect her techniques through workshops and online classes.
 
Art has always been a part of Carol’s life. She made extra money selling paintings as a child and painting portraits in college.  Throughout the last 30 years, she has had the privilege of teaching art classes for children and teens as well as adults.
Current projects are recording online video Watercolor lessons, teaching acrylic classes and working at the shared Studio 106 located inside the Emporium in the downtown Knoxville art district.
